Question 1

How does pricing work?

Accepted Answer

Per-gauge. Send your platform and a fault description (photos help), and we send a repair quote after a $227 bench diagnostic. You only pay for the gauges that need work — no fixed packages, no surprises.

Question 2

Is there a charge for the quote?

Accepted Answer

The $227 Bench Diagnostic & Intake includes up to 2 hours of bench testing, a diagnostic report, repair quote and return shipping. It is credited in full toward repair and non-refundable once benched.

Question 3

What happens after I approve the quote?

Accepted Answer

Your cluster has already been assessed on the bench. We proceed with the approved repair and credit your $227 diagnostic payment toward the total.

Question 4

Do you work Australia wide?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Customers ship their cluster in and Tachofi returns it after service using tracked shipping at no extra cost.

Question 5

What is the typical turnaround?

Accepted Answer

Timing depends on bench workload, condition and repair scope. We confirm expectations after intake; no completion date is guaranteed.

Question 6

Which Nissans do you work on?

Accepted Answer

Our primary focus is the JDM import era (1989–2005): Skyline (BNR32/BCNR33/BNR34, plus GTS-T variants), Silvia (S13/S14/S15), 180SX (RPS13), 300ZX (Z32), 350Z (Z33), Stagea (WC34/M35), Pulsar GTI-R (RNN14), Cefiro (A31/A32), Laurel (C33/C34). See the Nissan JDM platform page for known faults by model.

Question 7

My speedo or tacho cuts out at high RPM — is that fixable?

Accepted Answer

Almost always. The classic Skyline/Silvia/Stagea fault is cold solder joints on the cluster PCB. We re-flow every suspect joint by hand under magnification and bench-test before return. Covered by our 3-month warranty.

Question 8

My fuel or temp gauge reads wrong on a Nissan — cluster or sender?

Accepted Answer

On the cluster side it's usually a stepper motor that's worn or a cold joint at its base. We test the stepper drive on the bench. If it's actually the in-tank sender we'll say so in the quote — we won't quote work that won't fix the symptom.

Question 9

Backlight is dim or patchy — can it be brightened?

Accepted Answer

Yes. While the cluster is open we can do a full LED backlight refresh (~$80 incl. GST add-on). Even, crisp illumination — transforms night driving on Z32, S15 and R34 dashes.

Question 10

Do you do non-Nissan work?

Accepted Answer

Australian 4x4 and ute clusters (Patrol, Navara, Hilux, LandCruiser, Prado, Surf) are considered as bench capacity allows. Nissan JDM is the priority. See the 4x4s & utes page or ask in your enquiry.

Question 11

What if the cluster has extra faults?

Accepted Answer

If we find damage outside the quoted scope, we contact you with a revised quote before any extra work proceeds. You can decline and we'll return the cluster unmodified at no cost.

Question 12

Do you offer warranty?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Speedometer and tachometer re-solder work carries a 3-month warranty from the date your cluster is returned.

Question 13

Can I buy gauges separately?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The gauge shop is secondary to restoration services and stocks aftermarket gauges and JDM accessories.

Question 14

Can I send a damaged cluster lens?

Accepted Answer

Mention lens or housing damage in the enquiry so expectations are clear before shipping.

Straight answers before you ship the cluster.
